Adult Literacy

Education and competency in core areas of English, math, and finance expand opportunities for farmworkers at work and home. By providing these courses during the workday, we are putting opportunity within reach for the men and women who aspire to be a supervisor and/or specialists that require these skills. Programs include:​

English Literacy

• 11-Week English Course runs during the dormant season to assists Napa County farmworkers in developing English and communication skills for the workplace. Intermediate and beginning levels are offered. Click here for the 2025 course details.
• English at River Ranch Farmworker Housing Center provides critical language lessons where farmworkers can access it without requiring time away from work or transportation.
• Two-Week English Course is also provided in the winter and a great refresher or introductory class for students interested in taking the 11-week course. Click here for the 2024 course details.

Math & Technology Literacy

• 8-Week Math Course  focuses on multiplication, division, and fractions for solving common workplace and everyday tasks.
• Introduction to Computers provides basic instruction, including how to use a mouse, create a Gmail address, compose simple emails and log onto Zoom.
• Two-Week Math Course held in the winter, is an intermediate level class designed to build a strong foundation in addition and subtraction. Click here for the 2024 course details.

Financial Literacy

• A Video Series was created on Financial Literacy for the farmworker community to access anytime. It covers a variety of topics, some are:
  • Budgeting and Future Projections for Farming Operations
  • How To Calculate Cost of Grapes Per Vineyard Acre 
  • Investing for the Future 
  • Navigating the American Retirement System
