Fields of Opportunity - Why be a Mentor?
Most of us have had somebody in our life who helped us along in our careers. Somebody who gave us advice that helped us on our path. Fields of Opportunity is your opportunity to do this for a local high school student who is just starting to think about their future.
Some students in this program know they are interested in the wine industry and others are simply interested in learning what it is all about. This is an incredible opportunity to share what you know and love and welcome local students to join you.
Students are expected to have regular work responsibilities coupled with exposure to the various aspects of your business. Some mentors are able to create a rotation between two or three departments within their company, others have the student focus on one specific job for the summer, and others create jobs out of all the little things that need to be done to run a business.
The underlying connection is your investment in their success. Taking the time to show how it is done, to explain why we do it this way, and to see the understanding in their eyes makes all the difference. Fields of Opportunity is so much more than just a summer job; with the support of weekly skill-building workshops hosted by the Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation, it is 8 weeks where students dig deep to find out who they are and what they might become.
You will find yourself empowered, invigorated, and connected to the upcoming generations. So, join us in investing in the young people of our valley, in their potential, and in our shared future.
The Fields of Opportunity await – are you ready to change lives?

"V. Sattui has been proud to be a part of this program. We believe in mentorship and raising up the next generation of workers and leaders for our shared community. This program provides a way to do exactly that. Not only has this provided an avenue to give something back to the community, it has also provided a way to hire new employees that still work with us to this day.” |

"Everything about Hudson Ranch is pretty mesmerizing. It is beautiful and the people are very welcoming. I learned to work with elevated clientele and to see how hospitality works in Napa. I found my hospitality voice! I liked the Friday workshops because it was nice to connect with other people in the program at other companies and hear how their week went." |
