The Napa Valley Farmworker Foundation develops confident, capable leaders who strengthen teams and workplaces from the ground up.

Through practical, real-world training, participants build skills in communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and team development—tools they can apply immediately on the job.

Programming supports supervisors and emerging leaders as they step into greater responsibility, helping advance careers while fostering safer, more engaged, and more effective workplaces.

Leadership & Management Programs

  • CULTIVAR is a signature leadership experience that brings vineyard professionals together for immersive learning, connection, and growth. Over three days, participants engage in a dynamic agenda that blends technical vineyard knowledge with leadership development and practical workplace insights.

    Sessions are led by respected experts from universities, industry organizations, and local agencies, offering real-world perspectives on topics such as soil health, plant nutrition, vineyard management practices, workplace communication, safety, and personal well-being. Attendees can choose from breakout sessions aligned with their interests, while dedicated leadership tracks provide supervisors and emerging leaders with tools to strengthen communication, decision-making, team management, and problem-solving.

    Through these experiences, participants build skills they can apply immediately on the job, gain confidence, and expand their professional opportunities. The program helps prepare vineyard professionals to step into greater responsibility, strengthening teams, workplaces, and the broader Napa Valley winegrowing community.

  • The Train-the-Trainer Program equips Napa County farmworkers with the skills and certification needed to teach essential safety practices in the workplace.

    These classes strengthen participants’ ability to communicate clearly, reinforce best practices, and share critical knowledge with others—multiplying the impact of safety and skills-based education across vineyard teams.

    For employers, certified trainers build internal safety capacity, ensuring standards are consistently taught, reinforced, and upheld. For employees, certification demonstrates advanced safety knowledge and leadership ability, providing a valuable, resume-building credential.

    Together, these trainings help develop skilled safety leaders while fostering a culture of safety and shared responsibility throughout vineyard operations.
