FWF: Tell me a little bit about yourself. What is your name and position at work? Where are you from originally?
Maura: My name is Maura Arce Aguilar. I’m from Guerrero, I’ve been working in the vineyards for four years. 

FWF: What do you like best about the work? What is hard about the work?
Maura: I like everything, I like the suckering.   I like to see the flower and how it starts to bloom. The most difficult thing to step on, for me it is difficult is because it is difficult because it is heavy and loading the trays is difficult.              

FWF: Did you have, or have you ever had a mentor at work? Tell us about them.
Maura: When I first came in, my coworkers taught me how to do the job.  And now I don't find it difficult anymore.

FWF: Hobbies or personal interests?
Maura: I enjoy listening to music, especially Los Temerarios

FWF: What is your philosophy on life?
Maura: Working to make ends meet

FWF: What advice would you give to others who want to be successful in the vineyard?
Maura: I would tell them and teach them how to do the job. 

FWF: Hábleme un poco de usted. ¿Cómo se llama y cuál es su puesto en el trabajo? ¿De dónde es originalmente?
Maura:  Mi nombre Maura Arce Aguilar. Soy de Guerrero y tengo cuatro años trabajando en el campo


FWF: ¿Qué es lo que más le gusta del trabajo? ¿Qué es lo más difícil del trabajo?
Maura: Me gusta todo, me gusta la soca. Me gusta ver la flor y como empieza a florecer. Lo más difícil piscar, para mi es difícil es porque es pisca y badajear es difícil.

FWF: ¿Ha tenido o tiene un mentor en el trabajo? Háblenos de ellos.
Maura: Cuando entre la primera vez, mis compañeras me enseñaron como hacer el trabajo.  Y ahora ya no se me hace difícil. 

FWF: Pasatiempos o intereses personales?
Maura: Me gusta escuchar música, especialmente los temerarios. 

FWF: ¿Cuál es su filosofía de vida?
Maura: Trabajar para tener con que sobrevivir 

FWF: ¿Qué consejos les daría a otros que quieren tener existo trabajando en los viñedos?
Maura: Les diría y enseñaría como hacer el trabajo. 

FWF: Tell me a little bit about yourself. What is your name and position at work? Where are you from originally?
Graciela: My name is Graciela. I’ve been working in the vineyeards for sixteen years and for Bazán for the last six years. I’m originally from Michoacan. 

FWF: What do you like best about the work? What is hard about the work?
Graciela: I really like everything, I have only been learning how to prune for three years, which is very difficult. The first year I used to say, 'Oh, I want to cry' because I can't do it. I use the shears so much and the branches are too thick, even to pull and everything. But, yes, I can do it. Now I love pruning.The truth is that for me there is nothing to say that it is difficult because I love working in the vineyard. It is a little bit tough in the hot weather. But it is very enjoyable.

FWF: What skills are required to do your job well?
Graciela: I would tell them that if you enjoy your work you can do it because the most important thing is that you like working in the fields. If you like working in the vineyards, you will enjoy the process of the grapes.

FWF: What is your favorite season in the vineyard?
Graciela: My favorite is the suckering because it's like squeezing the plant because you take away everything it doesn't need and leave what it does need, the shoots it needs. I love suckering because the season is short, and leaf removal is a little more complicated. 

FWF: Did you have, or have you ever had a mentor at work? Tell us about them.
Graciela: I remember a colleague who said to me, 'you have to think, if my colleague can do it, I can do it too' - these are words that stay with you, sometimes when you are in a crew, some people are fast. It's a matter of getting into the rhythm.

FWF: Hobbies or personal interests?
Graciela: I like to do zumba.

FWF: What is your philosophy on life? 
Graciela: What motivates me in life are my children, they are my driving force to give my best in life.

FWF: What advice would you give to others who want to be successful in the vineyard?
Graciela: Give it your all, yes, you can do it. We women can do it too. I would like more women to come and work here and enjoy working in the fields.

FWF: Hábleme un poco de usted. ¿Cómo se llama y cuál es su puesto en el trabajo? ¿De dónde es originalmente?
Graciela:  Mi nombre es Graciela Tinajero.  Tengo dieseis años trabajando en el campo y seis años en BVM Soy originaria de Michoacán. 

FWF: ¿Qué es lo que más le gusta del trabajo? ¿Qué es lo más difícil del trabajo?
Graciela: Realmente todo me gusta, apenas tengo tres años que aprendí la poda, que sí es muy difícil. El primer año decía, ‘ay yo quiero llorar’ porque no puedo. Precisamente tanto usar la tijera y muy gruesas las ramas, hasta para jalar y todo. Pero, si se puede. Ahora la poda me encanta.  La verdad para mí ya no hay nada que diga que es difícil porque me encanta trabajar en el campo. Es un poquito pesado en el tiempo del calor. Pero, es muy bonito. 

FWF: ¿Qué habilidades se requieren para hacer bien el trabajo?
Graciela:  Yo le diría que sí se puede si disfrutas tu trabajo vas a poder porque lo más importante es que le guste a uno trabajar en el campo. Si te gusta trabajar en el campo, vas a disfrutar el proceso de la uva. 

FWF: ¿Cuál es su temporada favorita en los viñedos?
Graciela:   Mi favorita es la soca – porque es como ir exprimiendo la planta por que le vas quitando todo lo que no ocupa y la vas dejando lo que ocupa, los shoots que necesita. Me encanta la soca porque la temporada es corta, y pues el deshoje es un poquito más complicado.

FWF: ¿Cuál es su temporada favorita en los viñedos?
Graciela: La verdad todas las compañeras le motivan a uno, yo recuerdo a una compañera que me decía, ‘tu debes de pensar, si mi compañera puede, yo también puedo’ – son palabras que se quedan con uno, a veces cuando anda uno en una cuadrilla, hay unas bien rápidas. Es cuestión de agarrarle el ritmo. 

FWF:  Pasatiempos o intereses personales?
Graciela: Me gusta hacer zumba 

FWF: ¿Cuál es su filosofía de vida?
Graciela: lo que me motiva en la vida son mis hijos, son mi motor para echarle ganas a la vida. 

FWF: ¿Qué consejos les daría a otros que quieren tener existo trabajando en los viñedos?
Graciela: Que le echen ganas, sí se puede. También nosotras las mujeres podemos lograrlo.  Me gustaría que vengan más mujeres y trabajen aquí y disfruten trabajar en el campo.

Arlee: My name is Arlee González. I’ve been working for this company for eight years. I’m originally fom Sonora, Mex. 

FWF: What do you like best about the work? What is hard about the work?
Arlee: I like that we are in close contact with nature. I can't work in a confined space. The most difficult thing is pruning, I find it difficult. Probably just the handling of the shears. 

FWF: What skills are required to do your job well?
Arlee: I think here it's learning, it's an easy job, but you can get to see the vine and say wow what am I   going to do to it, but if you have a supervisor, he explains it to you.

FWF: What is your favorite season in the vineyard?
Arlee: Suckering is my favorite, it's very entertaining. The time goes by fast, and you are busy doing the work.

FWF: Did you have, or have you ever had a mentor at work? Tell us about them.
Arlee: In my case, the more experienced women help a lot. They're the ones you work with more, it's  like this technique is faster that way, etc.

FWF: What is one word that describes you?
Arlee: I love to talk 

FWF: Hobbies or personal interests?
Arlee: I like to spend time with my 10-year-old daughter

FWF: What is your philosophy on life?
​Arlee: Progress, I feel that in making progress there are many changes and in this way, you can help your family. The family is an important support if we all progress together, everything 

FWF: What advice would you give to others who want to be successful in the vineyard?
Arlee: To get rid of the fear of the stereotype that it is a hard job for women. The truth is that it is not a job, it is a demanding job, but it acclimates you to everything that comes along.  They should come to work in the fields, we have a good working environment.

FWF:  Hábleme un poco de usted. ¿Cómo se llama y cuál es su puesto en el trabajo? ¿De dónde eres originalmente?
Arlee:  Mi nombre es Arlee Gonzalez y tengo ocho años trabajando para la compañía.  Soy originaria de Sonora. 

FWF: ¿Qué es lo que más le gusta del trabajo? ¿Qué es lo más difícil del trabajo?
Arlee:  Me gusta que estamos bien en contacto con la naturaleza. No puedo trabajar en un lugar encerrado. Lo más difícil es la poda, se me hace difícil. Simplemente el manejo de la tijera. 

FWF: ¿Qué habilidades se requieren para hacer bien el trabajo?
Arlee:  Pienso que aquí es aprender, es un trabajo fácil, pero tú puedes llegar a ver la planta y dices woah, que voy a hacerle, pero si tienes un encargado, él te explica. 

FWF: ¿Cuál es su temporada favorita en los viñedos?
Arlee:  La Soca es mi favorita, es muy entretenido. El tiempo pasa muy rápido y estas entrenida haciendo el trabajo. 

FWF: ¿Ha tenido o tiene un mentor en el trabajo? Háblenos de ellos.
Arlee: A mí me tocaron las señoras con más experiencia ayudan mucho. Son con las que convives más, es como esta técnica es más rápida así, etc. 

FWF: ¿Qué palabra le describe?
Arlee:   Soy muy platicadora

FWF: ¿Pasatiempos o intereses personales?
Arlee: Me gusta dedicarle tiempo a mi hija de 10 años. 

FWF: ¿Cuál es su filosofía de vida?
Arlee: Progresar, siento que en el progreso hay muchos cambios y así puedes ayudar a la familia. La familia es un apoyo muy importante, si todos progresamos juntos, todo va mejor. 

FWF: ¿Qué consejo les daría a otros que quieran tener éxito en la viña?
Arlee: Que se quiten el miedo del estereotipo que es un trabajo pesado para la mujer. La verdad no es un trabajo, es un trabajo pesado, pero te aclimata a todo lo que viene.  Las mujeres que se vengan a trabajar al campo, tenemos buen ambiente laboral.
